Give Up the Ghost is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile, released on October 6, 2009, through Columbia Records.[1][7][8] The album was produced by Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin and contains a collaboration with Elton John titled "Caroline".[8] Recorded at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, the album also features Chad Smith, Amy Ray and Benmont Tench.[7]

"Dreams", the first single from the album, was released on Carlile's website on August 14, and was available for download on August 18.

Television exposure

The single "Dreams" was on a promo for the ABC television show "The Deep End" in January 2010. The song "Oh Dear" was in a Grey's Anatomy episode "I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked" which aired 1/21/10. The song "Before It Breaks" was in another Grey's Anatomy episode, "Invest in Love" as well as the pilot episode of Covert Affairs. National Geographic Channel in Latin America choose "If There Was No You" like jingle for promote its series "Grandes Migraciones" (Great Migrations) scheduled to broadcast in November 2010.

Awards

In 2010, Brandi Carlile was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for "Outstanding Music Artist" for the album Give Up the Ghost during the 21st GLAAD Media Awards.[9]
